Sleeping and Diapering: Check!

At the very least, baby Ian will have several options for sleep time and two places to get outfitted in clean diapers. This weekend we ordered the crib and dresser (in natural finish) and, thanks to a gift from Grandma and Grandpa H., set up the bassinet/play yard. Now all I have to do is figure out how to feed, bathe, and clothe him and we should be all set.

Joe made good progress on the second bookshelf for the nursery this weekend, but he claims he ran out of wood which was enough to justify a Sunday afternoon nap. Hopefully since this week is spring break for the area schools and Joe's Botball program is cancelled for the week, he can use some of his extra free time to get caught up. I am getting eager to get the room done since our crib and dresser are actually in stock and could be delivered as early as next week, and we have nowhere to put them!

We also bought a baby gate this weekend and set it up in the doorway to our unused living room. It is unused in the sense that it is unfurnished and has no purpose at the moment, although the dogs would argue otherwise. Clipper loves to look out that window because it affords the best view of the neighbor's dog, and Teak uses that room as a backup potty when Clipper is terrorizing her and she's afraid to go out in the yard (gross I know). So far the gate is working well, and the steam cleaner should make the carpet salvageable so the room can be used temporarily as a play room to stash all of the toys. The long-term plan is to finish the basement and move the play room down there once the kids are old enough to play without constant supervision, and then to turn the living room into a library complete with hardwood floors, built-in bookshelves lining the walls, and a comfy chair or two for reading and drinking wine.
