We had a very productive weekend at the Ferner house. Saturday Mom came over to help get the nursery ready. Since the pictures in the last post, we hung curtains, made up the crib, and hung pictures on the walls. There is still some construction work to be done - filling of gaps and nail holes, touch up paint, and installation of shelves and cabinet doors - so as soon as all of that is complete I'll post the official nursery photos. Then it's on to Ian's bathroom and play room, which are scheduled to be painted on July 4th weekend.

Saturday was also the baby shower in St. Louis which we got to attend via Skype. We got to say hello to everyone and participate vicariously in the first game, in which everyone had to write a bedtime story using all of the words on a list. The main theme of the bedtime stories was that Grandma Jeanne drank too many margaritas at the automotive store and was arrested by Aunt Janet. We also got to watch the gifts being opened, and we got tons of goodies! Thank you Ferners!!

Saturday evening we went to Target to use our gift certificates to stock up on other baby essentials. We bought two diaper pails - one for the nursery and one for the play room by the changing table - another box of diapers, two sheets for the bassinet/play yard, a wall clock for the nursery which will have to go back because it's too noisy and big, a bunch of all-purpose waterproof pads, and some cute froggy art for the bathroom. I also ordered a few things from Amazon - a breast pump, rubber play mat for the play room, and some peepee teepees for changing time. We are well on our way to having a fully-stocked house - now all we need is the baby!

Sunday we went to Maryland to celebrate Father's Day with a seafood feast of crabs, steamed shrimp, and hush puppies. All of that Old Bay, while seriously delicious, was salt overload and I'm paying the price today with really swollen feet and puffy eyes. Hopefully I can find a pair of shoes to wear to tonight's team meeting and happy hour, since I'm pretty sure McCormick & Schmick's doesn't allow bare feet in the bar.
