Baby-Ready Rooms

For Ian's arrival, we painted three rooms which is one more than we managed to paint for ourselves in the 2.5 years we've lived here. Thanks to help from Grandma and Grandpa Hansroth, Ian now has a bathroom and a play room all for himself.

We "converted" our empty living room into a play room, which is a great spot for containing all the toys and having an extra spot for changing on the main floor. We even have old furniture resurrected from the basement so there is room for the adults to sit and supervise.


The long-term plan is to finish the basement and make that the primary play space, then add hard wood floors and dark wood built-ins to turn the living room into a library. I think the creamy orange wall color will work nicely into that plan, so hopefully we won't have to paint again, assuming Ian doesn't color all over the walls with crayon or something.

The upstairs hall bathroom has been transformed into baby bathing space, and has a frog theme. It's so convenient because it's right across from the nursery, next to the laundry room, and on the same side of the house as the master bedroom, so everything is together where we need it.



All that's missing from the bathroom is the froggy rug, which is being kept safely in St. Louis and will arrive with Grandma and Grandpa Ferner in just a few short days.

Final nursery photos will be posted as soon as it's finished, but at this rate that might be when Ian is 5, so don't hold your breath.
